The European Commission did not mention the UK's withdrawal from the EU at all in its future CAP communication released late last year, but it is clear that Brexit will have a major impact on the formation and construction of the bloc's agriculture policy after 2020.

Meanwhile, British politicians must come up with a new farming policy outside of the CAP for the first time in more than 40 years, and UK farmers will also be eager to hear if they will face greatly increased competition from foreign importers via new trade deals.

In this podcast, Adam Sharpe discusses these issues and more with CAP expert and frequent contributor Chris Horseman.

Questions explored include:

  • What impact will Brexit have on the CAP in terms of budget and future direction?
  • How will a new British Agriculture Policy be different to the CAP
  • What sort of trade relationship will the EU and UK have post-Brexit?
  • Can the UK and US agree a 'quick-win' trade deal?
